Absolut Diffa.  back
ABSOLUT DIFFA is a new ad on p. 7 of the 6/98 New York edition of Playbill mag. This 1998 ad features 10 rows of pink umbrellas, 4 to a row, 1 row on top of the other; above that is 1 row of 3 umbrellas, topped by 3 rows of 2 umbrellas. All together they form the Absolut shape. The pink umbrellas are all viewed from above and are presented on a green background. Below the pink logo is written:
PINK UMBRELLAS: AN ABSOLUT REMEMBRANCE IS AN ART INSTALLATION OF 500 PINK UMBRELLAS THAT RAISS FUNDS FOR AND AWARENESS ABOUT AIDS. DESIGN INDUSTRIES FOUNDATION FIGHTING AIDS (DIFFA) AND ABSOLUT VODKA HAVE JOINED TOGETHER IN SAN FRANCISCO, MIAMI, BOSTON, DALLAS, SEATTLE AND MINNEAPOLIS. NEW YORK MARKS THE FINALE OF THIS POIGNANT TOUR. PINK UMBRELLAS WAS CONCEIVED AND DESIGNED BY HARRY BADER. FOR MORE INFORMATION CALL DIFFA AT (212) 727-3100.
Perhaps this ad has been printed in previous month's editions of Playbill in some or all of the cities mentioned. Or perhaps it was only printed this time (in June) during Gay Pride Month. I'd be interested in finding out.
